Braille was invented by Louis Braille in 1824 and is read by running the fingers over raised dots. Letters a–j use the top four dots (1-3-4-5); k–t add dot 3; u–z add dots 3 and 6. This translator uses standard Grade 1 (uncontracted) English Braille, where every letter maps to exactly one cell.
